Transcoding is the process of converting a video file or stream from one codec, resolution, or bitrate to another.
Transcoding is a core headend function. Satellite signals received in their original broadcast format are decoded and re-encoded to match the operator's delivery specifications, including codec (H.264/H.265/AV1), resolution, and bitrate.
